Noel Goddard
Principal, Accelerate NY Seed Fund
Noel Goddard is a Principal with the Accelerate NY Seed Fund, a regional investment fund focused on commercialization of emerging technologies.
Prior to her role with Accelerate NY, she directed the formulation R&D for Symbiotic Health, a venture-backed startup developing oral drug delivery of cellular and biologic therapeutics for diseases of the lower GI tract. Noel also founded a food safety diagnostics company to develop improved pathogen testing in fresh produce, and worked with Sapling Learning, a STEM educational software startup acquired by Macmillan Learning.
Noel is an advocate for improving accessibility to high quality science education and research in public schools and colleges. She served as an Assistant Professor of Physics at Hunter College, a campus of the City University of New York, where she built the biophysics degree program and directed a research laboratory.
Noel performed her post-doctoral research as a Junior Fellow in the Society of Fellows at Harvard University. She worked in the Laboratory of George Church, where she directed projects in synthetic and systems biology. Noel holds a PhD in physics and biology from Rockefeller University, with dissertation advisers Albert Libchaber (Wolf Prize) and Joshua Lederberg (Nobel Prize). She obtained her BS and MS from Polytechnic University (now New York University’s school of engineering).
